Heavenly Blues Mark 1 was a jazz band that played in Skelmersdale at our friends parties in the early 90s – put together by the late talented Bob Glover – we played some interesting big band arrangements interspersed by occasional Frank Zappa numbers.
Heavenly Blues 2 was set up when I met Karen at a party in Guildford and we started doing Dinner Jazz numbers together. We were joined by fiddle diva Rhiannon Hill who came and jammed with us at the infamous Vagina Monologues support gig in Farnham.
Once I emigrated to Sussex, Rhiannon and I operated as a duo and played a number of gigs in France and Sussex including one astonishing Christmas do as part of the Saga Louts. Here’s a clip of us playing at Guildford Ecademy
Rhiannon is now playing with her own all female band, Wynd, and runs a Jam every Wednesday in the Kendal in Brighton.
Heavenly Blues 3 is in the process of forming. In the meantime I played the Kathmandu Blues Festival with Blues Business and regularly appear at the Newick open mic night on Tuesdays at the Bull, Newick, Sussex.
