I’ve always been into the Blues. I used to go and watch Clapton play with the Yardbirds in the early ’60s and was always a big John Mayall Fan. I loved the folky blues of Jackson Frank and more recently I’ve been really influenced by Dr John on the Piano style.
So it was a real privilege to be invited to go and play with a local band, Blues Business at the Himalayan Blues Festival in Katmandu in October 2009. Here’s a video clip taken by New Zealand documentary maker Costa Botes of the band in action at the Garden of Dreams in Katmandu.
And here we are the following night at the main concert.
After that I was invited to join the Ugly Bugs Blues Band and Revo6 which combined songs from The Commitments, the Blues Brothers and Thin Lizzie.
Here are a couple of videos of Revo6 with the sensational Cylvian at Haywards Heath.
And here is me playing a Beautiful Blues written by Jackson Frank
